Youth, Techno-philosophy and Digital Art

February 28, 2014 · INJUVE MonographPublication

Issue Nº 102. Youth, Techno-philosophy and Digital Art of the INJUVE Journal of Youth Studies is now available.

I had the honor of coordinating this special issue, which marks an important milestone: it is the first time in the history of INJUVE publications that an issue has been published entirely under free licenses (Creative Commons) — a precedent that will now extend to all their future publications.

About the monograph

This issue offers a reflection on the current context and future trends in an era where younger generations are part of a (r)evolution that goes hand in hand with the most innovative technologies, as well as the new uses that emerge from them.

Through a series of articles by authors from diverse disciplines, the journey begins with an analysis of the hybridization context in which we find ourselves, then delves into the construction of subjectivity through technology (using figures and concepts such as the hacker, the cyborg, the avatar-body, extended mind, connective intelligence, etc.), and the forms and structures of identity construction among new generations and modes of knowledge production. The monograph concludes with the study of collective construction in the digital age, envisioning a more sustainable future based on the defense of the commons.

A milestone for free licenses at INJUVE

One of the most important achievements of this monograph was the decision to publish it under Creative Commons licenses. This precedent not only affects this issue but sets the foundation for all future INJUVE publications to be released under the same type of license, opening knowledge to all citizens.
